Evaluation on goals
1. I have met my goal in using an interactive whiteboard. I have used interactive whiteboard apps such as Educreations to create instructional videos. I used Educreations to display graphs related to math problems. I also used Educreations to write equations and show my work for word problems. While I worked through word problems, I showed my work and recorded my explanations. In the future, I will definately use interactive whiteboard apps to create more instructional videos. They are easy to use and they allow me to solve problems in the same way I would show work on a whiteboard in the classroom.
2. I used the program EDpuzzle to edit an instructional video I had originally made. The video is on Riemann Sums, and it can be found in my gallery. With EDpuzzle, I embedded multiple choice questions into my video. Now, while students watch the video, they can answer the questions and see how well they understand the material. By looking at their performance on each question, I can also assess whether the are paying attention to the video. In the future, I want to use EDpuzzle to make my instructional videos more interactive and effective in teaching the lesson.
3. I have used both WeVideo and PowToon to create instructional videos. From using WeVideo, I learned how to combine individual audio and video recordings together. I also became more familiar with editing tools. For example, while I was making my instructional video, I learned how to trim and rearrange parts of a video. On PowToon, I learned how to incorporate text with imagery. To make the video more interesting to audiences, I used cartoons to deliver the information on my topic. I plan on using PowToons and WeVideo to illustrate word problems and real life scenarios that apply to math. They will allow me to create stories with cartoons and images from pictures and videos.
Future Plans
In the future, I want to explore more ways I can use technology to meet the specific needs of students. For example, I want to become more familiar with tools that help visual and auditory learners. That way, I can bring tools to assist students during class. I can also reccomend tools to students while they are out of class. I am also interested in finding other forms of online assessment. I want to use these resources to create effective and engaging quizzes for students.
